Step 2: Prepare the soil.
Triple-Stem Water Spinach is a very easy-to-grow vegetable and is not picky about soil. As long as there is enough water and light, the plant can grow and develop healthily. The most suitable soil for growing water spinach is muddy soil, loam soil or slightly flooded soil.
Step 3: Sowing the seeds
- Take soft, loose, clean, nutritious soil and pour it into a foam box. Water and mix well to increase the soil moisture, then level it and make rows about 0.5cm deep.
- Sow vegetable seeds on the rows that have been made, then cover them with a thin layer of clean soil, and at the same time spray a little water on the ground to moisten the soil. In the first week, increase watering twice a day, morning and evening, and cover with dry straw and grass. When you see the plants sprout, move them to a place with light for better growth.
Step 1: Incubate the seeds
Soak the water spinach seeds in warm water at about 30 - 40°C for 3 - 6 hours, then remove the seeds, rinse with clean water and incubate in a damp towel at 25 - 30°C for 6 - 10 hours.
TIP: Triple-Stem Water Spinach is best grown in warm climates where it produces the most lush green, large, crisp and delicious water spinach, best in tropical, subtropical and warm regions such as Asia, the Philippines, South America, Australia and New Zealand.
Step 4: Care and Harvest
- You should water the vegetables regularly, especially in the dry and sunny season. However, you should note that in the rainy season, you should cover the vegetables carefully to avoid rain from crushing the vegetables.
- At the stage of 3-4 leaves, you will see that the leaves are pale yellow due to lack of nitrogen and the roots have not developed yet, so at this stage, you should add nitrogen, phosphorus and urea fertilizer to help the water spinach grow well.
- Harvesting time depends on temperature, water and care conditions, but usually the time to harvest water spinach is within 4 - 6 weeks after planting. When the water spinach is about 30 - 40cm high, you cut the base 3cm from the base of the plant so that the vegetable continues to grow more seedlings.
